POST IMPRESSIONISM
Impressionism had paved the way for an art increasingly freed from the rules, both from a technical and a content point of view.
Artists increasingly try to stand out for a personal approach and their works are beginning to be more and more determined in the choice of subjects and technique, from their emotions and from a subjective vision of the world.
The material, both pictorial and sculptural, becomes the protagonist and the constituent elements of the work of art - sign, shape, color - become more and more visible, so much so that the subject of the work becomes more and more a pretext for making art. 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_
In this context, experiences of experimentation are born, such as that, short but intense, of pointillisme (pointillism) or those of the Fauves and expressionism. Artists often adhere to these new trends for a certain period, but then continue their own personal path in search of a personal distinctive trait and there are many artists who, although aware of the novelties of the art world, do not adhere to any movement and they dedicate themselves to personal research: for example Cèzanne, Van Gogh and Gauguin.
